Our Chapter
Linked in Friendship and Community Service
The Links, Incorporated is a public service, non-partisan, volunteer organization that was started in 1946, in the wake of World War II by two Philadelphia leaders, Margaret Roselle Hawkins and Sarah Strickland Scott. Links Hawkins and Scott envisioned a service-oriented organization that would promote civic, educational, and cultural concerns, and lead Black women into postwar America.

Today, The Links, Incorporated has a membership of more than 17,000 professional women of African descent in 299 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and the United Kingdom. Links are bonded through friendship and guided by community service. Our Mission is friends transforming communities through service and our Vision is to enrich communities and improve the quality of life for people of African descent through friendship and service.

The Boston Chapter of The Links, Inc. is an affiliate of The Links, Incorporated and was established in 1951 and chartered in 1952. With 78 active and alumnae members, The Boston Chapter contributes more than 3000 hours of community service annually. The organization has a long history of working in economically disenfranchised communities in Boston with a focus on ensuring the economic survival of individuals in those communities. The goal is to provide transformational and impactful programming to help strengthen African American communities and enhance the nation.
